Working, Moving, Commuting, Living… - 29.04.07
Welcome back! I know, it's been forever since my last 'Sign of life' and lots of things have happened. First of all around the time of my last post I experimented with podcasting, which is really fun to do and all but worked just swamped me and so no updates there either. Then last Summer my girlfriend and I decided to move out of Berlin back to our hometown Würzburg, which makes lots of sense due to being back at Fiftyeight full-time. Although Fiftyeight have moved their office as-well, it's a bit closer to my hometown but it still leaves a four hour commute a day. Yeah it's tough, but I have to split my life between my girl and my work :) Just kidding, but work's been great and the new office is very, very nice. In order to keep sane and do something for myself, I delved into my new hobby – photography. For a very long time I've been interested in photography but never got around to actually go out an shoot. Well, now I'm there and loving it and the extra benefit is learning to 'see' which could eventually improve my work in CG as-well. For that reason I changed the 'Tutorials' menu item to 'Photography' since I never got around to do a tutorial anyway. Enjoy my photoblog and feel free to leave me a comment via mail.

Sign of life - 11.03.06
Yes, I'm still alive, barely! Just kidding, I'm happy to report that I've been working alot on projects at Fiftyeight. On yet another Mr.Clean assignment I even got the chance to go to Miami Beach since the shooting took place in the sun and I must say that I had a good time. So I've been traveling quite a bit between Berlin, Wiesbaden and my hometown, since a lot is happening in my personal life aswell. Soon I'll take some time of and also update the projects page, until then take care and work harder :-)

Coming back to Berlin... again? - 08.11.05
I have only been back to Berlin for about a week, when I was offered to work in Toronto for a Mr.Clean shooting once more. Of course I was happy to go, but this time I never really got accustomed to the time difference. Even though I felt jet-lagged most of the time, I was happy to meet my colleagues on and around the set again. But I'm happy to be back at home, doing some PHP coding, getting sucked into the podcast-hole and looking forward to see my friends in Wiesbaden. Did I mention I had a great time watching Serenity? And Shopgirl is my new most favorite love story. Hugs and kisses, AndY.

Coming back to Berlin and Bundestagswahlen - 23.09.05
I'm back in Berlin. I had a great time around my family and friends, but what good is an appartment for if you don't live in it? Berlin seems the same as three months ago. Elections turned out to be a catastrophe and last nights news on television reported even more lay offs in major german companies. At least I was lucky to have work, so check out the projects section. Keep hope alive and your chin up.

Enjoying a hot cup of Java - 06.08.05

This may sound strange to the people that know me, because I don't drink coffee. What it really means is that I've started coding in the Java programming language. For many years I thought high-level programming languages where confusing and that 6502 assembler was the only way to write code. Well, I finally opened my mind and I'm actually enjoying Java. Even more I like the concept of object-oriented-programming and I'm sure my insights into Java will also become usefull with MEL and others. Enough of that...
I hope you all enjoyed the Siggraph news, my personal favorites round up like this: Maya 7, XSI 5, PRMan/MtoR, Gelato 2, of course there was a lot more, but hey, this isn't CGTalk :-) Gone for a second cup!

Short summer break - 29.07.05

I've spent the past months at fiftyeight working on various Mr.Clean projects. Aside from the projects, I really had a great time with my friends there. I'll be updating the projects page in a few days so you can see what I've been working on. So now is the perfect time to enjoy a short summerbreak together with my girlfriend and looking forward to what exciting things happen at Siggraph this year. Get out and and enjoy non-CG sunlight ;-)

Back in Toronto - 30.05.05

I was given the chance to come back to Toronto and I sure wasn't sad about it. I really enjoyed my visit last winter, but coming back here in early summer is even better. First thing I did after checking in at the hotel was to head over to the Eaton Center and get myself a PSP. Sonys new gadget is just awesome, nice design with a never before seen screen in a portable device to enjoy games as well as movies. But you've probably read this before, I just wanted to reiterate. StarWars was on the agenda the next day. After seeing the movie twice in german, I wanted to see the original. I've read some english reviews criticizing the acting in this movie, these reviewers should go see the german dub since it makes the situation much worse. I really enjoyed the picture and sound quality though, as long as it lasted since the show was ended halfway by a fire alarm and I decided not to watch it again. That pretty much was the weekend and today was the first day of shooting. Everything went well and I hope it stays that way for the coming five days. Wish me luck!

Projects section updated - 27.05.05

Yes, I've been working like a bee to fill the projects section. What you see there are pictures of projects I've been involved with and a short description of what part I played during the production. Up until now most of the stuff is in the Fifyeight 3D section. Feel free to comment.

Website online! - 23.05.05
At last! After years and years I finally took the time to create my personal website. And it's totally coincidental that it goes online on the 23rd, really. Anyway, this is the place to pick up a part of me. Be it more or less personal in the blog or be it business in the projects and gallery sections. With all that you do, enjoy and have fun — AndY
